Student Name on Diploma
The diploma includes either the students' legal name or preferred name as assigned in the UNH student information system. Students can change or update names as shown on the diploma by following the steps below.
Legal Name
Students' legal name will appear on the diploma exactly as it displays in the student information system. Students who wish to change how a name displays on the official UNH diploma can complete a

Preferred Name
Students may request to use a preferred name on the diploma.
- Log into Webcat and designate a preferred name.
- Email registrar.records@unh.edu to request how a preferred name displays on the diploma.
The University reserves the right to remove a preferred name if it contains inappropriate or offensive language or is being used for misrepresentation.
Receiving the Diploma
Students will receive a printed diploma by mail after graduation (degree conferral) is completed by the Office of the Registrar.
Printed diplomas are mailed 6-8 weeks after the effective date of graduation. Students also have the option to purchase a Certified Electronic Diploma (CeDiploma) to access an official PDF version of the diploma.
Diploma covers are distributed at the commencement ceremony in May and are not an official diploma for graduation.
Domestic Mailing Address
- Diplomas are mailed to the address students provide when applying to graduate.
- Students can verify or make changes to a mailing address in Webcat by selecting the Personal Information option.
- Do not provide a campus mailing address.
International Mailing Address
- Students that provide an international address when applying to graduate may delay receiving the diploma.

Account Holds
Students with Financial Aid Exit Counseling holds or unpaid account balances will not receive a diploma until the holds are cleared. Students can view holds by logging into Webcat and selecting the registration option.
Diploma Measurements
Official Âé¶¹app diplomas are the following sizes based on the degree earned by students.

Replacement or Additional Diploma
Students can request replacement or additional diplomas by filling out the order form online through the UNH trusted third-party diploma vendor . Diplomas are ordered twice monthly, and rush service is available with a fee.

Granite State College students that graduated prior to the Âé¶¹app/Granite State College merger (July 1, 2023) are not eligible to request a Âé¶¹app diploma, and transcripts will indicate the degree was earned from Granite State College.
