- Can I get standard exams of whatever type I need regardless of my gender identity or expression at The Wellness Center (pap smear, breast exam, hernia test, prostate exam, etc.)?
Yes, you can receive standard exams regardless of (and sensitive to) your gender identity or expression. - Does The Wellness Center provide Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)?
es, we provide HRT. - Does The Wellness Center maintain information about surgeons providing Gender Confirmation Surgery (GCS)?
Yes, we have information about professionals providing GCS. You can call (603) 862-2856 for more information. - Can I get a written referral to an endocrinologist for HRT?
Some insurance carriers may require a written referral for an endocrinologist. Please contact your insurance carrier prior to your appointment to see whether or not a written referral is needed and if this referral can be provided by one of our clinicians, or if it will need to be written by your primary care provider.
Hormone Prescriptions and Blood Tests
- Can I get an initial prescription written for hormones/anti-androgens at The Wellness Center?
No, you'll be referred to or to start hormone replacement therapy. - Will The Wellness Center order blood tests related to HRT?
Yes, our clinicians can order blood tests related to HRT. - Will The Wellness Center perform blood tests ordered by an outside provider?
Yes, come to The Wellness Center with clearly written orders from the ordering provider. We will also need the fax number of the ordering provider where we can fax your test results. There will be a charge for the blood tests performed. - Will HRT-related blood tests be covered by the health fee?
The health fee does not cover the cost of HRT related blood tests. Please check with your insurance carrier to see if they will cover these lab tests. - Will The Wellness Center help me administer HRT-related treatments (such as injections)?
Yes, we can assist with the administration of prescribed HRT-related treatments.
Forms & SystemsÂ
- Am I required to list my legal name/gender marker on The Wellness Center forms?
Yes, you are required to use your legal name and gender marker on forms for The Wellness Center since they are a part of your health record. Identity information on your health record needs to be consistent with the information we receive from the University and what also appears on your University ID. These all need to be consistent for verification, which is required by law. - How do I get my chosen name/gender marker noted in my health record?
If you would like to inform us of a chosen name and/or gender marker that has not been changed legally, you can:- Change it yourself by logging into the Portal and go into "Profile".
- Let us know in person at our front reception desk.
- Let us know while you are here for a clinical/medical appointment or wellness counseling appointment.
- Changes in your gender marker may impact what services are covered by your health insurance plan. Please contact your health insurance carrier for more information.
- Can I list/change my pronouns on The Wellness Center forms?
Yes, you can change your pronouns by logging into the Portal or letting us know and we can change it for you. - How do I change my preferred name in Âé¶¹app systems?
You may indicate a preferred first name that will appear in documents internal to UNH by and following the process listed.
