An independent study for which a tenured/tenure-track faculty member shall receive overload compensation is approved by the chair and approved by the dean. āIndependent Studyā constitutes āoverloadā when the Independent Study is accepted by the faculty member and approved by the dean, which results in the faculty memberās academic year workload assignment being greater than their FTE. Any requests for supplemental pay for independent studies during the academic year must be reviewed by the department chair in consultation with the dean. Supplemental pay forms must be submitted prior to undertaking this overload work.
