Returner Housing Selection

Current UNH students who want to live on campus in the residence halls or on-campus apartments must apply via the Housing Portal. Depending on your housing requirement status, you will apply during the Fall semester (October/November) or during the Spring semester (February/March). Students who submit their housing application by their respective self-selection deadline will be able to participate in the room self-selection process. Students who submit a housing application after the self-selection deadline will be hand assigned to a space based on availability.

Students Without a Housing Requirement

October / November 2026

The 2027-2028 housing selection process for students without a housing requirement will occur in October and November 2026. Students who do not have a housing requirement for 2027-2028 and want to live on campus will need to participate in this process. Additional information will be available soon.

Students With a Housing Requirement

February / March 2027

The 2027-2028 housing selection process for students with a housing requirement will occur in February and March 2027. Students who have a housing requirement for 2027-2028 will need to participate in this process. Additional information will be available in late-Fall 2026 semester.

On-Campus Apartments

Phase 1: Renewal for Current Apartment Residents
This phase is only for current residents of the on-campus apartments (Gables and Woodside). At least one member of a roommate group must currently live in Gables or Woodside to participate in this phase.
Thursday, February 19	Phase Update 2/13: As there is a small number of eligible students for this phase, this will now be managed as a manual process and not self-selection. On February 19, 2026 our staff will reach out to the students eligible for this phase to discuss next steps. Current apartment residents will still be eligible for assignment before students not currently living in the apartments. Please reference the email that was sent out on 2/13 for more information.

Phase 2: Apartment General Selection
This phase is for students not currently living in the on-campus apartments to choose from remaining available spaces in the on-campus apartments (Gables and Woodside).
Monday, February 23	Phase Update 2/13: Current apartment availability is fewer than 7 six-person apartments in Gables C. Due to the limited number of apartments, this phase will be open to six-person groups only. On February 23, 2026, our staff will randomly select from six-person groups and contact the group leader to offer a six-person apartment. If any offers are declined, we will continue to reach out to six-person groups until all spaces are filled. Please reference the email that was sent out on 2/13 for more information.

Residence Halls

Phase 3: Renewal for Current Residence Hall Residents
This phase is for current residence hall residents who want to renew to live in their SAME residence hall. At least one member of a roommate group must live in a residence hall for the group to be able to choose from available spaces in that community.
Monday, March 2	Timeslots are distributed
Tuesday, March 3	Choose any available space within your current residence hall

Phase 4: Residence Hall Selection to Move to a Different Hall
This phase is for students to choose from available spaces in a different residence hall than they currently live. During this phase, students will see all residence hall spaces available at that time.
Wednesday, March 4	Timeslots are distributed
Thursday, March 5	Choose any available space within a residence hall
