At least sixteen Churchill Scholarships, tenable for nine or twelve months of study at Cambridge University, are awarded annually to pursue graduate work in Engineering (including Computer Science), Mathematics, and the Physical and Biological Sciences. The one-year awards lead to the Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) or the Master of Advanced Study (MASt).

Eligibility: Applicants must be citizens of the United States and upon taking a Churchill Scholarship, be between the ages of 19 and 26, hold a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a United States college or university, and may not have attained a doctorate. Individuals selected for this award often have a GPA of 3.9 or higher.

Churchill Recommended Steps and Timeline
- By May 13, 2025: (1) Review the eligibility criteria to ensure you are eligible for the award and (2) Create an application account on the Churchill Scholarship website to begin your application.
- By May 27, 2025: Research master’s programs and select your ideal program. Note: you can ONLY choose a one-year master’s degree.
- By June 17, 2025: Contact potential PIs to express interest in the program and your interest in the research being done in their lab. (Note: You should absolutely look up some recent research to do this).
- June - August, 2025: Complete draft and revisions of short answer, list of activities, Proposed Plan of Study, and Academic and Research History essays.
- By August 12, 2025: Request four (4) letters of recommendation. Send the names and contact information of your recommenders to national.fellowships@unh.edu.
- September 9, 2025: (1) Complete nomination agreement form and (2) complete FERPA form to request copy of official UNH transcript from the Office of National Fellowships.
- September 23, 2025: INTERNAL DEADLINE - Submit all materials to Office of National Fellowships by 5pm.
- By October 20, 2025: Complete application for Cambridge University. Select "Churchill College" as your first choice.
- October 21, 2025: Last day to send essays to Office of National Fellowships for feedback.
- November 3, 2025: National Application DEADLINE. Submit materials by October 31, 2025 to allow for sufficient upload time.
