We are excited to announce the publication of “Clarifying Labels, Constructs, and Definitions: Sibling Aggression and Abuse are Family Violence," co-authored by Drs. Corinna Jenkins Tucker, Tanya Rouleau Whitworth, and David Finkelhor.

In this article, we explore the distinctions between sibling rivalry, conflict, aggression, and abuse, challenging traditional perceptions and emphasizing the need for more precise terminology in understanding this kind of family violence. We propose a unified set of definitions and a classification of sibling dynamics that can be used by researchers and practitioners. We also offer recommendations for responding to each type of sibling dynamic.
