Work on your goals for reading and writing with a CLC tutor! 

Students meet individually with a tutor for 45 minute sessions. During their first meetings, students complete assessments and establish a literacy goal. Tutors use students’ assessments, interests, and goals to guide research-based, developmentally appropriate literacy instruction. Activities might include: word chains, word ladders, phonics instruction, reader’s theater, riddles, jokes, assisted reading, and writing activities.

  • Who: Students in grades K-12
  • Where: UNH Community Literacy Center, Murkland Hall, Room G14 or online
  • When: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, September 29-December 1. No tutoring on November 3 or from November 23-27. 
  • Times Available: 3:30-4:15pm, 4:30-5:15pm, 5:30-6:15pm, 6:30-7:15pm

New students may register at any time while registration is open, but all slots are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Register early for the greatest time/day selection.

Schedule preferences are asked as part of the CampDoc process (explained below). Once the registration questions are complete, the Community Literacy Center will make initial contact via email to pair the student with an instructor and finalize the schedule prior to the Start Date indicated on the chart below. This initial contact will typically take place within 7 business days of CampDoc completion, and it takes about two weeks between registration and the first tutoring meeting. Tutoring cannot be scheduled until the participant's CampDoc profile is 100% complete. 

Participants purchase multi-session punch-cards. To retain a tutoring spot, a new punch-card must be purchased prior to completion of the current punch-card. If a child is regularly attending tutoring, punch-cards do not expire between semesters. If a child is not regularly attending tutoring (i.e. missed 3 or more meetings in a row), the punch-card expires at the end of a semester.

Family Accounts are recommended for enrolling multiple children from one family in any UNH Youth Program. If you already have an account in our system, you will be asked to log into either a Family or Student Account after adding the program to your shopping cart. Be sure to use the username and password for the type of account you wish to log into. We recommend attempting to log into the Student or Family account before enrollment opens as this will minimize difficulty and time while enrolling. Email youth.programs@unh.edu if you require assistance recovering your account information. Do not create a new account if you have one already.

If you don't have an account already, you can set up an account at any time, even before you begin the registration process. If creating a student account, the account profile should be in the name of the participating student, but the email should be that of a parent/guardian. Review the Online Registration Instructions before creating a new account.

Arrival/Drop-off: Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to programming so that programming can start on time. Children in grades four and below must be dropped off by an adult.

Late Arrivals: If your child arrives late, please make sure to check your child in face-to-face with a CLC staff member.

Dismissal: All minors must be dismissed to an authorized adult. Please make sure all authorized adults know to have a picture ID for pick-up. The default place for CLC pick-up is the waiting room in the 111 Suite. If you need a different pick-up location, like the parking spots outside of Morrill Hall, contact the organizer of your child’s program.
