During J-term 2026, four UNH Wildcats stepped out of the classroom, and their comfort zones. They traveled across the world to regenerative rubber farms in Thailand to partner with the Wanakaset Symbiosis Network, a cooperative of smallholder farmers that are working to move farming practices from being a source of degeneration to a source of regeneration.

Marisa, Abby, Nicole, and Riley worked alongside the cooperative to support the development of supply chain, market research, and marketing strategies to help connect regenerative, sustainably grown crops to premium local and global markets. By strengthening the demand for these products, the project aims to help incentivize a broader move toward sustainable farming practices in Thailand.

The team received funding from UNH’s International Changemaker Grant (ICG), which supports student teams to travel and collaborate on sustainability-related projects with international non-profits. The team documented challenges and successes and provided a summary report for future teams to evolve and expand the work.

The project also helped establish an ongoing collaboration between the 鶹app and Thaksin University, aligning closely with the ICG’s mission of building global partnerships to address sustainability challenges.

Read some of their personal reflections below to step into the experience.
