The Tradition Continues

After a pair of weather-related postponements, UNH hosted its annual University Day (Uday) celebration on Sept. 22, welcoming students, staff and faculty to Main Street to celebrate the start of the academic year and explore a wide variety of offerings from student groups and local vendors.

Yahoo News: NH drives to diversify

Over the past decade, New Hampshire has worked to become a more diverse state, with 87.2% of people identifying as non-Hispanic and White alone according to Census data analyzed by Ken Johnson, Senior Demographer at the Carsey School of Public Policy. Yahoo News interviewed NH Listens Director Michele Holt-Shannon, who commented that there's been a notable increase in efforts in the state to build more welcoming communities of wider diversity of people.

KALB: Louisiana Food Fellows program creates equitable food systems for Cenla community

Many Louisiana families are in the midst of a food crisis as a result of the 280,000 jobs lost during the pandemic, according to research reported by the Carsey School of Public Policy. Roughly half of these jobs have been recovered, but KALB News in LouisianaÌıhas reported onÌıthe ongoing problem and how communities are working to resolve the twin issues of job loss and food insecurity.

The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) has recognized the work of UNH’s Career and Professional Success (CaPS) office on the Diversity and Inclusion Employer Champion Program, in its Best Practices series online for the impact it has had on diversity, equity and inclusion.
