The SAARA team is excited to launch an awareness campaign this month with the theme, "Sibling Abuse Is Family Violence." While societal awareness and prevention and intervention activities have increased around intimate partner violence and parental child maltreatment, sibling abuse is still commonly dismissed as "just rivalry," "a fight," or "normal sibling behavior."
With this month-long social media awareness campaign, we hope to increase knowledge among professionals and the public that sibling abuse is a harmful form of family violence that deserves attention. This serves SAARA's mission of creating social change to ensure all children are safe at home, including with siblings.
SAARA offers extensive resources on this topic on our website, including materials tailored for siblings, parents and families, as well as professionals and practitioners. We also encourage you to check out our latest Psychology Today blog post, "."
