My 5 Favorite UNH Meals
If you are looking for a college where there are plenty of delicious dining options both on and close to campus, the Â鶹app is right for you! UNH's dining halls offer a wide variety of options that meet many dietary needs and make students excited to see what's for dinner. In addition, our dining retail locations and restaurants and coffee shops, on campus and in downtown Durham, provide lots of options for grabbing a quick bite to eat between classes and enjoying favorites like pizza and coffee on the weekends.
Learn more about UNH dining through a student's eyes. Andrew Lage '26, a business administration: management and entrepreneurial studies major, shares his top five UNH meals, from tasty campus quesadillas to the best Hawaiian pizza, right in downtown Durham.
1. Dunkin' lemonade and hashbrowns
Dunkin’, or MUBkin as UNH students call it, is located in the Memorial Union Building (MUB) right outside of Holloway Commons Dining Hall. It can be busy, but it is in a great location, central to campus. With the ability to place a mobile order, you can always stay ahead of the line, and it's the perfect place to grab a quick drink and bite on your way to class. My favorite drink is a strawberry dragon fruit lemonade refresher with raspberry, and my favorite food item is the hashbrowns. I often stop here on the way to class or on my way to study. It is hard to enter the MUB without stopping by. Also, it is a great place to use dining dollars and Cat’s Cache, which are funds we get as part of our meal plan.
2. Aroma Joe's Blue Hawaiian Rush
Aroma Joe’s is located across the street from Health and Wellness on campus and across from Huddleston Hall. It's centrally located and there is parking, so it is a go-to spot for when I need caffeine. I usually get a Blue Hawaiian Rush. Often, I go with friends when we are ready for a long or busy day. Similar to Dunkin’, Aroma’s is a chain, so even when I am off campus, I am still able to get my favorite refreshments!
3. DHOP Hawaiian pizza
Whether it is a late-night snack or lunch, Durham House of Pizza, or DHOP, always hits the spot. DHOP is located downtown. Oftentimes on weekends, you may run into lines outside the door. But do not worry, they have it down; the line moves quickly, and the pizza is always hot and fresh. My favorite slice comes from their Hawaiian pizza. I have also placed larger orders for different events around campus, and they always have the pizzas ready to go when I need to pick them up.
4. Clark's Taco Tuesday
Clark's American Bistro is located on Main Street right in downtown Durham. Clark's is a sit-down restaurant and is a great place to go for friends’ birthdays or when your parents come to visit. My favorite time to go to Clark’s is on Taco Tuesday, when there are great taco promotions. If it is not a Tuesday, my go-to is the CBLT sandwich. Their higher-level food that is less like fast food and harder to find in the dining halls is always refreshing.
5. Wildkitty chicken quesadilla
Located behind Stoke Hall, Wildkitty (officially Wildcatessen) offers late-night bites on campus. This has been one of my favorite places to eat since I was a freshman. Quick food is crucial when you are busy. Wildkitty has always been convenient for me when spending late nights studying in Paul College. My favorite meal is the BBQ chicken quesadilla, but being able to buy other snacks and drinks that I can take home for later just adds to the convenience of the location. Also, it is a great place to use dining dollars and Cat’s Cache.
BONUS: Tacos at Barrio
Although this is not in Durham, if you have a car on campus, definitely head to Portsmouth, only 20 minutes away, and try out Barrio. Barrio offers a build-your-own taco menu. I have tried so many different versions of tacos here and always enjoy them.
