UNH Today

Getting SMART

Six Â鶹app students have been awarded Science, Math and Research for Transformation (SMART) scholarships from the Department of Defense, the largest number of recipients ever from UNH in a single cycle.

3MT Challenge Reaches New Heights

For the first time since 2019, Â鶹app graduate students were able to stand on stage live in front of an audience and compete in the 3 Minute Thesis Competition, which was a lively and engaging success. The 3MT is an annual competition where graduate students can hone their public speaking and self-promotional skills while spotlighting the inspiring research they do at UNH.

Bringing Cuts to Campus

UNH will be hosting three barbers from Boston on April 19 who will offer free haircuts to students – catering to all hair types and styles – in a return to a diversity, equity and inclusion initiative first held on campus prior to the pandemic.

COVID-Fueled Recreation

UNH research led by assistant professor of recreation management and policy Michael Ferguson found a dramatic increase during the pandemic of visitors to the parks and protected areas of New England that resulted in significant social, situational and ecological impacts.

Genomic Time Machine

Looking at the microbiome of sponges, UNH researchers have developed a “genomic time machine†that could predict aspects of coral reef and ocean ecosystems through hundreds of millions of years of dramatic evolutionary change.
