These next few weeks of online classes and social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 will be difficult for all of us. But social distancing can be especially difficult for survivors in our community. For those living in abusive households, abusers could take advantage of this social distancing period to gain further control over their victims, leaving survivors feeling trapped with no way out. Social distancing - staying inside, not seeing friends or family听and spending long periods of time in isolation - can also be difficult for survivors with mental health concerns.

The UNH STEM Discovery Lab was a busy place this summer, hosting a variety of hands-on science programs for elementary, middle and high school students. Cancer biologist Dr. Kristen C. Johnson of Moultonborough, N.H., joined the faculty this fall as an assistant professor of biotechnology in UNH Manchester's biological sciences and biotechnology programs.听听

Miranda Dube '15, adjunct faculty librarian, recently had an article published in the peer-reviewed, open-access journal In the Library with the Lead Pipe. Dube's article reports on the results of her statewide survey of public librarians regarding resources and programs for abuse survivors in our communities.

Jeremiah Johnson, assistant professor of data science, presented a paper titled "Structured Prediction Using cGANs with Fusion Discriminator" at the 2019 International Conference for Learning Representations (ICLR) in New Orleans.

Geneia President Heather Staples Lavoie delivered the keynote address at UNH Manchester's 34th annual commencement ceremony, which celebrated the achievements of 288 anticipated graduates on Thursday. Congratulations, Class of 2019!
