What is emergency management?
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) defines emergency management as “the managerial function charged with creating the framework within which communities reduce vulnerability to hazards and cope with disasters.” Essentially, emergency management encompasses the coordination and supervision of resources and responsibilities that helps communities mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters. This minor prepares you with knowledge of emergency management strategies, tools and policies that are essential to related careers in government, the private sector and nonprofit entities.
