New Minor in Social Justice Leadership Approved

The social justice leadership minor is a new program approved by the University, effective in the fall of 2016, for students in all colleges. Developed by Marla Brettschneider and Faina Bukher of the women’s studies program, the 5-course sequence will give students the opportunity to focus their studies and develop applied skills in the area of social justice leadership. Through theory, leadership study and experiential learning activities, students will explore policies, power dynamics, institutions and structures that promote or hinder equity.

UNH Philosopher, Feminist Selected as Fulbright Specialist

Professor of philosophy and humanities Charlotte Witt has been selected for a Fulbright Specialist grant in U.S. Studies – Women's Studies at the University of Iceland. She will travel to Reykjavik later this month where she will remain for 3 weeks, teaching summer school sessions for Erasmus+. Their program, Gender and Philosophy, is offering summer school on the subject of "Philosophy of the Body," aimed at graduate students from across the EU and funded by Erasmus.

Dr Joe Lugalla, long-tiime Professor in Anthropology, is retiring

You'd think that Joe Lugalla might want to just relax. He has worked for more than 40 years as an educator and researcher, the last 22 of which were spent as an anthropology professor at UNH. He's retiring this year. Perhaps, now, a daily mid-morning cup of chai is in order, followed by a stroll down the streets of Durham or Njombe-Iringa in his native Tanzania. But that's not what retirement will look like for Lugalla. In fact, he has already hit the ground running on a new career path.

Pre-departure announcement for UNH Managed Spring Program in Chengdu

In the spring semester of 2017, 8 students were accepted for the 2017 Spring program in Chengdu. The students come from several colleges such as Peter Paul College of Business, CHHS and COLA. They will leave on Feb 19th and return on June 10th. Besides daily Chinese classes at Chengdu University, there will also be frequent excursions such as visiting the largest Panda Reserve, The Ancient Town of Luodai, The Dujiang Aqueduct etc. Students will be immersed in an authentic language environment. They will spend their last week in China traveling to the City of Xian and Beijing.
