Jerome Amedu, a postdoctoral Diversity and Innovation Scholar in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, has been selected for one of 15 highly competitive annual fellowships with the Community for Advancing Discovery Research in Education (CADRE), a resource network for STEM education researchers supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF).
“How can we build better support for our communities to thrive at an individual and collective level?” asks Carolyn Arcand, program director of the master of public administration (MPA) online program at UNH. “Public administration should support the caregivers of our society - anyone whose purpose enhances the overall community welfare. Creative leadership and public engagement can make this happen.”
Student and alumni innovators alike were celebrated last week at the culminating events of the NH Social Venture Innovation Challenge (SVIC), UNH’s annual idea competition. Paige Balcom ’16 (CEPS, mechanical engineering) was named the 2023 UNH Social Innovator of the Year during the festivities.
With support from the NHAES, UNH scientists are studying methods to better connect farmers to markets and consumers, and examining ways of improving local food access for Granite Staters.
The 鶹app has contributed to a first-of-its-kind new report looking at carbon dioxide (CO2) removal in the United States. Mark Ducey, professor of natural resources and the environment, is one of the researchers from more than a dozen institutions involved in the high-resolution assessment, “Roads to Removal: Options for Carbon Dioxide Removal in the United States,” which charts a path to achieve a net-zero greenhouse gas economy by 2050.
Three members of the UNH community were selected to the NH Business Review’s , which recognizes individuals who have “made their mark on New Hampshire’s economy, business climate and the state as a whole,” according to the NHBR site.
The University System of New Hampshire (USNH) Board of Trustees voted once again to freeze tuition for in-state students at all system colleges for the 2024-2025 academic year, marking the sixth consecutive year without an increase. When factoring in institutional financial aid, the freeze will make it less expensive on average for Granite State students to attend a USNH institution next year than it was in 2019.
Beyond UNH, the tuition freeze will remain in effect at both Keene State College and Plymouth State University, as well.
