Business major Maeve McDonnell '21 will spend the summer as a听digital and social media intern at Stay Work Play New Hampshire, a nonprofit that highlights what makes the state a听great place for young people to live.

According to Kenneth Johnson, senior demographer at the Carsey School, an older population,听greater incidence of obesity, and chronic health problems in rural areas are likely to make the COVID-19 pandemic far more deadly. Based on his analysis, more than 26% of the population outside metropolitain areas is 60 or older. Additionally, access to medical care in many rural areas can also be limited.

It鈥檚 not every day that a company reaches out to a student to see if they would like to do an internship with them. It鈥檚 probably even less likely when that company is Amazon.

The welcomes C.C. Hendricks, who joins the faculty as assistant professor and director of first-year writing beginning this fall.听

Katherine Heaney 鈥�20G just received her master鈥檚 degree in听. Her plan for September had been to travel to Spain to teach English for the next academic year. She is one of five UNH graduates offered 2020 Fulbright scholarships to teach, study or conduct research abroad.
