Frey Earns 2025 Excellence in Research Award

Serita Frey, professor in the UNH Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, was selected as the winner of the 2025 Excellence in Research Award given out during the annual Faculty Excellence celebration thisÌýfall. Frey's work has been lauded by colleagues and students alike, with one nominator saying she "has fundamentally changed how we think about soil." Tvisha Martin, a postdoctoral fellow, adds that she has made "groundbreaking discoveries in the realm of soil ecology."

How to Stay Warm in the Cold This Winter: Tips From an Arctic Researcher

'Tis the season for bundling up against elements like blowing snow and aggressive wind chills. And who better to ask for tips on how to stay warm during the winter than someone who works outside in the Arctic?ÌýCheristy Jones has spent a total of 12 months doing fieldwork in Greenland, Alaska, and northern Sweden during her Ph.D. at UNH. Her research looks at greenhouse gasses in Arctic landscapes and waterways, specifically carbon dioxide and methane.

Mayer Receives Distinguished Professor Award for 2025
