The NH Literacy Institutes at UNH celebrate the National Day on Writing

The celebrated the National Day on Writing on October 20, 2022, with partners from the ; Connors Writing Center; the (C-WRET); ; and the .

The was founded by the National Council of Teachers of English to “draw attention to the remarkable variety of writing Americans engage in and to help make writers from all walks of life aware of their craft… and transform the public’s understanding of writing and the role it plays in society today." The New Hampshire Literacy Institutes and their partners were proud to be a part of this mission.

The celebration at UNH included 160 eighth graders from a local school who descended upon the halls of Hamilton Smith Hall for a party featuring literacy activities such as making a culture collage, adding to a climate literacy chart, making a monster, creating a missing scene from "Look Both Ways" and developing a “Poet-tree,†among many other fun ways to develop literacy skills.
