Rochester: Revitalization, outdoor recreation go hand-in-hand
Today, the downtown is brighter, with new building and renovation projects. A rail trail bicycle path and natural area with walking trails has been developed next to Spaulding High School. And young people are attracted to its more affordable housing, proximity to the Seacoast and Lakes Region and its hip and growing arts and culture scene.
“All of these things together are economic development, because they’re all related,†says Lauren Krantz, director of recreation for Rochester. “Recreation and living in a beautiful place with easy access to the outdoors brings real value to a community.â€
