Most hospitals have temporarily halted elective surgeries and procedures to focus on the current outbreak. This means that the revenue from these services has stopped. At the same time, many hospitals have backed off of their usual bill collection procedures to ease financial pressure on payments, causing another hit to revenue.ÌýAccording to a report published by the Carsey School, the healthcare and social assistance part of the economy represents 9% of New Hampshire's GDP. Health care and social assistance also accounts for 14% of the states jobs- the largest single employment sector. However, due to the financial pressures of the current epidemic, hositals are having a hard time attracting needed workers. Additionally, some hospitals have already stopped contributing to their employees' 401(k) programs.Ìý
