413 E Cherry StreetÌý

Ìý

Snow begins to buzz into the sifted eveningÌý

You remove your shoes at the doorÌý

Billie Holiday’s album cover is orangeÌý

SheÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýsings beautifullyÌý

Ìý

You water the ferns in the nudeÌý

Long curls flick your parchment skinÌý

You sway near the brass-colored couchÌý

I am the voyeur who lives inside youÌý

Ìý

For a discount this fallÌý

you bought a pot of red mumsÌý

as the colors of summer buckledÌý

against the descending weight of autumnÌý

Ìý

Now our color is the orangeÌý

of low sodium streetlightsÌý

casting shape in a blizzardÌý

The mums are deadÌý

Ìý

Inside the lights are onÌý

Our townÌý

is a dark town atÌýnightÌý

with an observatory on the hillÌý

that we could see from hereÌý

if we had shut off the lightsÌý
