Halfway through their six-week research cruise of the Arctic Ocean, UNH researchers and visited the North Pole. Jerram, a research scientist with the (CCOM), and Bazhenova, an oceanographer from Russia with CCOM’s , are on board the Swedish icebreaker Oden for six weeks; Jerram as a senior researcher and mentor in geophysical sciences and multibeam sonar, and Bazhenova as one of nine invited s. As the ship approached the North Pole, “everyone on board, 67 persons, gathered on the bridge to celebrate when the GPS came closer and closer to the latitude 90°N,†according to the ship’s . Researchers paused briefly for photos before getting back to work.
