The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) has selected James Ramsay, professor and program coordinator of , to receive the 2016 Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award.

Ramsay serves as chair of the ASSE education standards committee, and for the past several years has beenĚýdeveloping a roadmap to frame the occupational safety and health profession, which includes theĚýdevelopment of national standards of education and accreditation.

RamsayĚýrecently completed a four-year term on the board of scientific counselors to the director of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) —Ěýa post to which he was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. He currently serves on the CDC NIOSH Institutional Review Board.

Ramsay will be presented the at the annual ASSEĚýProfessional Development ConferenceĚý& Exposition in Atlanta this June.
