Annual Employee Permits

New Process!

Beginning in 2025-26, employees will order new permits online annually.  These changes are designed to help improve validity, security, and accuracy of permits and permit data over the renewing process, afforded with as minimal annual effort as possible.

What you need to know:

What's changing:

  • Annual permit replacement required; a new permit every year!:  Renewable hang-tags will be replaced by annual single-year permits.  "Auto-Renew" enrollments and single-year renewals will be discontinued.  Employees will still receive annual reminders to purchase their new permits.  
  • Online ordering only:  Employees needing a permit will log into an online store, enter/update your information, select a permit and "check out".  The process is quick and easy; around five minutes per year.  Your new annual permit will be mailed directly to you at the address you provide.  To ensure timely delivery, please place your order several weeks in advance of your current permit's August 31 expiration.
  • Decals replacing hang-tags.  Physical permits will now be vinyl decals, to be affixed to your vehicle's front driver's side windshield. If you bring a different car to campus, a free 14-day alternate vehicle permit is available at the Parking Portal.
  • Optional hang-tag available:  For those who prefer the portability of a tag, an optional clear (blank) hang tag is available for purchase ($3 with online permit order, $5 if purchased in the office).  Just affix your decal to the tag instead of the windshield and display from your rearview mirror as before.  You can peel off an old decal and stick on next year's permit, so you don't need to get a new one every year.

What's not changing:  

  • No price change.  Permits ordered online will remain the standard price.  Only the optional plastic hang tag will come with a small fee.
  • Same payment options.  Tax-advantaged payroll deduction payment will still be available to applicants on the USNH payroll.  Credit card payment options will still be available to USNH employees desiring to pay with a card (no pre-tax advantage) and will be the only option for affiliated personnel not on USNH payroll.
  • Portability option.  See hang-tag information, above.
  • Rules for parking.  The permit requirement and other parking regulations remain the same as before.
  • Permit categories: permit types available online include standard Faculty/Staff permits (most applicants), Service, Admin Access, and Vendor permits.  

What you need to do:

  1. Beginning on July 15, interested applicants may go to and log in.  
  2. Complete your account creation by supplying your ID, name, address, and vehicle information where requested.
  3. Select one of the permit categories, with or without the optional hang-tag.  
  4. Select your payment method.  Payroll deduction will require your ID number, the credit card option will bring you to the pay gate.  Complete your order and check out.
  5. Some orders may require "Administrative Review" to confirm eligibility.  Orders are not complete until this approval is completed.
  6. After successful orders, you will automatically be delivered a temporary permit to use while awaiting your new decal in the US Mail.
  7. The new permits are required starting Sept. 1.
  8. This process will repeat each summer in advance of each academic year.
